Our first Golden Retriever joined the family in 1976. Her name was Bonnie and was much loved by all of our 5 children, especially our
youngest, Melissa aged 4.
As the years flew by and we aquired more dogs we learned a lot about the breed, made many good friends and had some wonderful times
at dog shows together.
Melissa started handling at 6 years old. As she grew older she became a very proficient handler and as a teenager won best child handler
at the Royal Melbourne Show and the Victorian State Finals. Melissa then went on to represent Victoria at the PAL National Finals.
Over the years we selectively bred our Goldens which produced a number of Australian Champions. We have always prided ourselves in only
breeding for quality, not quantity and ensuring the best interests of the breed are kept first and foremost.
As time moved on we had to leave our property at Yarra Junction where Goldsirius Kennels was established. Melissa, now all grown up and
married has now re-established Goldsirius Kennels in Mount Evelyn. I feel I can leave Goldsirius Kennels in the capable hands of my daughter as she knows the importance of a good reputation and integrity when it
comes to breeding Golden Retrievers.
